Weekend Countdown March 8-9, 2014!

As you guys know I don't post the countdown, I just give my overall thoughts. This week we are saying goodbye 5 songs! All of them needed to go but one (Brave- Sara Bareilles). Here are the songs that left this week!

  • Applause- Lady Gaga
  • Brave- Sara Bareilles
  • I Need Your Love- Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding
  • Love Me Again- John Newman
  • Chocolate- The 1975
Debuts:
  • This Is What It Feels Like- Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie
    • Yeah, I know this isn't a debut, its back on the countdown for a 3rd time! I hate re-entries! Go away Armin van Buuren!
  • Pumping Blood- NONONO
    • I really enjoy this song. It was on Hit-Bound for what seems like a year but I'm still really happy it debuted!
  • Animals- Martin Garrix
    • This is one of the BEST dance tracks I have ever heard! Even though it lacks words for the most part, I don't really mind! I hope Animals is around for a LONG time!
  • Find You- Zedd ft. Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant
    • This is a pretty good song! There is nothing not to like about it. Zedd is a great DJ, and Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant both have really good vocals!
  • I Want It All- Karmin
    • You can never go wrong with Karmin! I absolutely LOVE this song! This song was produced by Pitch Perfect star Ester Dean! I love the 80's feel to it! I Want It All is up there with Acapella and Brokenhearted as one of their best!

Song Review for Debuts in February & March.

Hey guys! Since I haven't reviewed debuts on the Weekend Countdown since the beginning of February, here they are. (Hint: I like all of them!)

  • Take Me Home- Cash Cash ft. Bebe Rexha
    • I really enjoy this song! Bebe Rexha has really good vocals! I hope to hear more from her in the future.
  • Talk Dirty- Jason Derulo
    • Unfortunately Hits-1 cuts 2 Chainz from the song, but I still love the Hits-1 version. The instruments are great! This is a song Jason Derulo needed! With The Other Side being boring, and Marry Me not getting very popular, Talk Dirty puts Jason Derulo back on the map.
  • Replay- Zendaya
    • Replay is a great song! I hope it sticks around for a long time!
  • Best Day of My Life- American Authors
    • I didn't like this song. I thought it was too much like It's Time- Imagine Dragons and Ho Hey- The Lumineers, but it has really grown on me. When I have my music on shuffle I always get this song and On Top of The World- Imagine Dragons mixed up. I still thoroughly enjoy the song!
  • Neon Lights- Demi Lovato
    •  I love this song too! I have always been a Demi Lovato fan and this song does not disappoint. I rank it up there with Heart Attack as one of her best!
  • Hey Brother- Avicii ft. Dan Tyminski
    • I probably sound like a broken record right now, but I love this song! Its different than any song out right now. Avicii is a great DJ! Dan Tyminski plays a great part too!
  • The Man- Aloe Blacc
    • Aloe Blacc is THE MAN! I love the tone of his voice and his country/R&B sound! Perfect for mainstream right now!
  • Headlights- Eminem ft. Nate Ruess
    • Honestly, compared to The Monster this song is not very good. That being said, I really enjoy this song! This song I would assume is very personal to Eminem. Nate Ruess plays a great part.
  • Can't Remember To Forget You- Shakira ft. Rihanna
    • I am not usually a big Shakira or Rihanna fan, but I love this song. It is a ton of fun.

I'm Back! Hits-1 Recommendations!

Sorry to everyone who has been following this blog! I lost touch a little bit with it but I'm BACK! Expect Hits-1 updates often. So in the meantime I will review all the songs that have debuted on the Weekend Countdown since the beginning of February! Before I do that here are some songs that are not currently played on Hits-1 that I would like to see be played soon!

  • Mmm Yeah- Austin Mahone ft. Pitbull
    • This song is AMAZING! It has an amazing beat & fun lyrics! These two make a really good pair too!
  • Human- Christina Perri
    • This song has really good lyrics and is inspirational. Christina Perri's vocals are great as usual too!
  • Hold On- Colbie Caillat
    • Colbie Caillat is great on the track, but whats new!
  • Let It Go- Demi Lovato
    • With Frozen being released soon, and Idina Menzel's version not being as radio-friendly, I would love and not be suprised if this song got airplay. (Unless Neon Lights would get less, then nevermind!)
  • I See Fire- Ed Sheeran
    • I love this song. I'm not sure how radio-friendly it is, but its a great song. Its also on The Hobbit: Desolation of Smog!
  • Expired Lover- Emily Kinney
    • Most people know Emily Kinney as Beth Greene on The Walking Dead, who sings every now and then. Well her music is pretty good. With Sunday nights episode focusing mostly on her and Norman Reedus's character Daryl Dixon, hopefully it will boost her musics popularity!
  • Better Together- Fifth Harmony
    • Fifth Harmony is a better girl group than Little Mix, Haim, & Serebro who are all played on Hits 1.
  • Invisible- Hunter Hayes
    • Just because its by Hunter Hayes it should automatically played everywhere. It helps that this song attacks bullying!
  • All of Me- John Legend
    • This song is just flat out amazing! It it #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. I was expecting it to be on Hit-Bound last weekend, but I bet it is this weekend.
  • Show Me- Kid Ink ft. Chris Brown
    • This song is extremely catchy! Its on the American Top 40 chart, so I hope that means Hits-1 will play it soon.
  • Glory & Gore- Lorde
    • If you don't know already I am a HUGE Lorde fan. This song is not a disappointment. Its climbing Billboard and iTunes right now. Hits-1 likes Lorde so I'm sure it will be played soon!
  • Lucky Strike- Maroon 5
    • I'm expecting Adam Levine to perform this song on The Voice sometime in the next few weeks like all the coaches so to release new music (ex. Say Something- A Great Big World/Christina Aguilera). I love this song. One of their best!
  • She Keeps Me Warm- Mary Lambert
    • If you couldn't tell from the title, this song is a sequel to Same Love- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert. Mary Lambert is a great vocalist! I love when artists sing about great causes!
  • Midnight Memories- One Direction
    • I've been expecting this song to be on Hits-1 for a while. This song is a lot of fun.

Recomendations for the Hits 1

  • Mmm Yeah- Austin Mahone ft. Pitbull
This song is AMAZING! It has catchy beats & fun lyrics! It is what Hits 1 needs!
  • Waiting For Superman- Daughtry
Daughtry can SING! I love this song!
  • Let It Go- Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato has quite the voice! I feel like this song would do really well due to the recent success of the Frozen soundtrack.
  • I See Fire- Ed Sheeran
I love the vocals in this song!
  • 3000 Miles- Emblem3
Emblem3 is just a great band that needs another song on Hits 1  after Chloe!
  • Better Together- Fifth Harmony
I love this group of gals are amazing! Better Together has great energy that would do really well on the Hits 1!
  • Invisible- Hunter Hayes
You can never go wrong with Hunter Hayes. I love the message in this song!
  • Adore You- Miley Cyrus
Not as good as Wrecking Ball, but still a good song.
  • Midnight Memories- One Direction
It's One Direction. Obviously it will debut soon, but sooner the better!
  • Can't Remember To Forget You- Shakira ft. Rihanna
This song is surprisingly a lot of fun! I would love to see it on Hits 1!

  44. Royals- Lorde
  45. This Is What It Feels Like- Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie
New Entrants:
This week we unfortunately got 2 out of 3 bad debut, but lets go from good to bad. First up is Happy- Pharrell!!! I LOVE this song! It is such a feel-good song (unlike Feel Good- Goldhouse! haha). I expect this song to do very well due to the recent success of Blurred Lines- Robin Thicke ft. T.I. 7 Pharrell & Get Lucky- Daft Punk ft. Pharrell.

Next is Old School Love- Lupe Fiasco ft. Ed Sheeran. This song isn't the worst song I have ever heard, that would be Wax- Rosana, Mi Mi Mi- Serebro, & I'm Ready- AJR (which we'll get too in a second). I usually love anything that comes out of Ed Sheeran's mouth, but this is definitely the exception!

Last, and certainly least is I'm Ready- AJR. Why does Hits 1 do this to us?!?! First Rosana- Wax & Mi Mi Mi- Serebro, now this! SpongeBob Squarepants does NOT belong on the radio! The song is pretty catchy right up to the "I'm ready" part.

Other notes:

Still waiting for Neon Lights- Demi Lovato, Replay- Zendaya, Hey Brother- Avicii ft. Dan Tyminski, & Dance Apocalptic- Janelle Monae to debut.

Karmin, Chris Wallace, & Aloe Blacc all debuted new Hit-Bound songs this week, all of which are very acceptable!

I am not very happy that Dance With Me Tonight- Olly Murs & Alone Together- Fall Out Boy are back in the top 5.

I was very surprised to hear This Is What It Feels Like- Armin van Buuren ft. Trevor Guthrie first this week. I don't really want it to go, but it might be time. But remember I also said that about Miss Jackson- Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo a few weeks ago and now its #20, so you never know.

Why did Let Her Go- Passenger fall back to #9...its supposed to be #1!

Top 10 Picks:
  1. Let Her Go- Passenger
  2. Timber- Pitbull ft. Ke$ha
  3. Dark Horse- Katy Perry ft. Juicy J
  4. Team- Lorde
  5. Counting Stars- One Republic
  6. Do What U Want- Lady Gaga ft. R. Kelly
  7. Pompeii- Bastille
  8. Drink You Away- Justin Timberlake
  9. The Monster- Eminem ft. Rihanna
  10. Say Something- A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera

  44. I Need Your Love- Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding
  45. Slow Down- Selena Gomez
Entrants Review:

So lets start out with XO-Beyoncé. At first I absolutely hated the song, but It has grown on me a little bit. While I was color coding the top I really debated weather it was blue or red. Honestly though I do not see this song catching on.

Next, Goodbye- Glenn Morrison. I like this song. I was really surprised it debuted over some other songs still on Hit-Bound though. I think this song will be around for a while.

We FINALLY got the debut of The Wire- Haim! I have been waiting a long time for this song to debut! The reason I love this song so much is because it is not a typical hit song. I hope its around for a long time!

Pompeii- Bastille is one of my favorite songs right now! I was stocked when I heard it debut!

Even though I love The Wire & Pompeii, the best debut of the week it Team- Lorde! If you follow my blog then you know I am a huge Lorde fan!

The last, and certainly least debut this week was Feel Good- Goldhouse! I really can't stand this song!

Other Notes:

  • I was not expecting that Miss Jackson- Panic! At The Disco ft. Lolo was going to jump from #44 to #18, but I'm not complaining!
  • I really don't understand why Neon Lights- Demi Lovato & Wrecking Ball- Miley Cyrus didn't debut this week even though they both have had massive air time lately.
  • Let Her Go- Passenger is in the top 5! It better get #1 soon!
  • I am really happy to see My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark- Fall Out Boy at #43!
  • Say Something- A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera finally made a jump to the middle of the countdown!
  • I would really like to see Drink You Away- Justin Timberlake, Do What U Want- Lady Gaga ft. R. Kelly & Dark Horse- Katy Perry ft. Juicy J make it to the top 10 soon! They all three deserve it!
  • I'm upset that What Now- Rihanna dropped out! It isn't too often I like a Rihanna song, so when I do it needs to stick around longer than a few weeks!
  • Burn- Ellie Goulding is finally in the top 10!
Top 10 Picks:
  1. Timber- Pitbull ft. Ke$ha
  2. Let Her Go- Passneger
  3. Do What U Want- Lady Gaga ft. R. Kelly
  4. Dark Horse- Katy Perry ft. Juicy J
  5. Drink You Away- Justin Timberlake
  6. Counting Stars- One Republic
  7. Team- Lorde
  8. Demons- Imagine Dragons
  9. The Monster- Eminem ft. Rihanna
  10. Say Something- A Great Big World ft. Christina Aguilera

Mid-Week Update

Hey guys! This is a new thing I might stick with.

  • Happy- Pharrell
  • Team- Lorde
  • The Man- Aloe Blacc
  • Wrecking Ball- Miley Cyrus (yes, I really did hear this song! Hits 1 is a tad bit behind but whatever I love this song!)
  • Dare You- Hardwell ft. Matthew Koma
  • Neon Lights- Demi Lovato
  • Pompeii- Bastille
  • I'm Ready- AJR (Hopefully this song doesn't catch on!)
  • The Wire- Haim
  • Replay- Zendaya
  • Dance Apocalyptic- Janelle Monae
These are just songs I've heard a lot of on Hits 1 lately. I really hope this means the 2-week hiatus of no debuts on the Weekend Countdown will be coming to an end shortly!

Notes:
  • This week I got a new Whatuwant Crew survey and it included a lot of Hit-Bound songs (and strangely enough Wrecking Ball- Miley Cyrus???) I really hope this means there will be a bunch of new debuts next week!
  • I bought the albums The Heist- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pure Heroine- Lorde a few days ago! They were both good albums, but The Heist really blew me away! Macklemore expresses his opinions on issues and different struggles he has gone through (Same Love, Starting Over, A Wake), plus a bunch of just fun songs (Thrift Shop, Jimmy Iovine, Wing$), and even a country song called Cowboy Boots! Any song chosen as the next single will be popular no matter what!
  • Am I seeing a potential #1 from Let Her Go- Passenger??? I sure hope so!
  • When introducing Mi Mi Mi- Serebro, Spyder Harrison said "the song that drives me CRAZY!" I hope to see it's demise soon!
  • Team- Lorde, Neon Lights- Demi Lovato, Replay- Zendaya, Dance Apocalyptic- Janelle Monae The Wire- Haim, Pompeii- Bastille, Thinking About You- Calvin Harris ft. Ayah Marar, & Pumping Blood- NONONO from Hit-Bound would all be good debut choices! Anything but XO- Beyonce & I'm Ready- TJR and I will be a happy camper!
  • I will be doing my top 10 choices from now on.
